Found in Villamartin, near La Zenia
vilamartindogfound

This lovely looking dog was found in Villamartin near La Zenia, Playa Flamenca, on 17th June. He was wearing a lead and collar but is not microchipped.  He's a very well behaved dog and seems to be well cared for, so may well have just got away from his owners.

His finders can look after him for a few days, but are not in a position to keep a dog permanently yet.

If you recognise this dog or you have lost him, please contact Julia on 691 869 670 or 966 764 852

Tale Of The Puppies

Part 1

From White Gates Hotel, Ontinyent

Dear Mum Pat,

After you left us here yesterday  Harry and I decided we had better make the  best of it. The man and the lady seemed OK. The man gives us our meals and does the cleaning up and the lady takes us for little walks in the garden. Our room is nice with a big bed - but we decided to sleep behind the boiler - just to give the man a scare this morning - he thought we were lost!!

Yesterday we spent the afternoon by the pool, sunbathing with the lady. Harry thought he would try out the pool and is a really strong swimmer - he was doing really well until the man came and fished him out.  I don't think we will bother with the pool again - there is lots more to see and do. We have made a den under the big laurel tree.     Last night Digger was helping us dig a nice hole there and she allowed us to be back up on a tree rat hunting party.  We were all very pleased to have caught this big one but the man came and took it away. Digger seems nice if a bit strict. I have fallen in love with Gripper but he doesn't want to know - I think he might be queer - he doesn't take any notice even when I kiss his ears!
The lady says you can come and visit and even bring the gruff man with you if you want.

All for now - wish you were here
love

Part 2

From White Gates Hotel, Ontinyent

Dear Mum Jodie

Thank you for your email. Something really strange is happening and I don't know what to do. Sometimes people come and look at us and hold us and then a bit later one of us disappears.

It happened first the other night to Splash. Two humans came and cuddled Splash for a long time and then took her out of our bedroom and ……she never came back!

Then the same thing happened the next day when Apache and Crosspatch disappeared. Do you think we should say something to The Man and The Lady?? Or just try and keep quiet – because the good thing is The Man still gives us the same amount of breakfast and lunch and dinner – he says we are up to a Number 12 paella dish – is this good??

Since you have been gone we have tried to think of Digger as our mum but she gets a bit cross sometimes and as for Gripper he is really gruff. We were only trying to play with him and his ball but he got very angry and nipped at Ginger's paws – boy did she cry, the big baby! I am being very brave because The Lady says I am the chosen one – I don't have to be nice to the humans who come, because she says I can stay here – if I am nice to Gripper. I will do my best mum but it's not easy without you………..
Love Juan

Part 3

From White Gates Hotel, Ontinyent

How goes it in your pad? I've really landed on my paws here. The bros have continued their disappearing act – there's only Osito and Tippex here now and they say they have humans lined up. It's dead good now at meal times – we've got a bowl each!! No more spinning round on the paella dish and The Man and The Lady make a real fuss of us when we do a wee on the newspaper, although they say they are saving the Euroweekly for some reason, which is a bit odd!

I hear you have quite a lot of chums where you are, but why doesn't anyone want you – you look like quite a doll to me!! Your latest snap really shows up your glossy coat and those eyes wow –  I think I'm in love!!

I hear that you like to nip the others dogs' ears – well anytime you want to nip mine give me a bark and I'll be there like a Jack Russell after a tree rat!!

The Man and The Lady took Shadow and Ginger off yesterday to somewhere called Torrevieja – reckon that must be some special kind of kennel ‘cos lots of the bros go off there. Your trip sounded awful – fancy going to see a nice lady and then she sticks a needle in you, and then having to do it all over again next week. I have an awful thought that I might have to do the same thing – The Lady keeps talking about getting me a Passport – sounds like I'm going to be v. important, although Digger and Gripper both have them. Mind you if I looked like Digger does in her snap I don't think I'd go outside the gate!!

Keep me posted on the adopter front and let me know your new email once you're settled.

I heard from Mum Jodie – she's fine and sends her best, but I do still miss her.

Lots of love and kisses Juan XX
(they don't call me ‘Don' for nothing)

Juan

That's me, Juan, down on the right.  The one with that rather cavalier smile!

Reply email sent 19th March  from Joe Goodwin, P.E.P.A.'S President  to POPPY

Hi, Poppy, aka Splash,   We here at P.E.P.A.are very happy to know that you are doing well.  As to your brothers and sisters they are scattered from Ontinyent up here in the north to Murcia, Torrevieja and Villamartin in the south.  I hope they bring their adopted homes the happiness you seem to be giving.  Tell Tina and Steve, that we are very happy that your jabs, microchip and passport are all current.  We see too many animals whose homes are disrupted because they are not ready to travel with their human family when some crisis occurs.  Stay healthy, happy and loving.  Joe Goodwin, President of P.E.P.A..

"Oh yes! I'm definitely going to love it here! I couldn't wish for anything more?"

Here is an email received from her adopted family:

"Hi its Emily and Lee here.

We are the people who took Ruby from Rugat. We have settled into a new house in Benissa now and thought we would give you an update on how she is getting on.

She loves playing with the other dogs and we have decided she is in love with the cat! She is a very obidient dog that loves to please. The only teething problem we had is she loves to collect things when we go out! We often find clothes and pillows collected on her bed when we arrive home but its just a case of making sure everything is out of the way! she likes to collect things with our smell on it which we guessed is just a reassurance thing, but it really is no problem.

Thanks for all your help again she is an amazing family pet and we love her to bits. Emily and Lee.

Lucky to be alive!
Lucky

LUCKY, so named because if it had been for her rescuers, she would probably have died from starvation after wandering the streets of Xativa for weeks! Now, she is beginning to gain a little weight after some TLC, but unfortunately her rescuers are unable to keep her although she has mixed well with their two bitches. She is not microchipped, but the vet has wormed her and we are reassured that she will thrive on that TLC. We think she is about two years and it is possible that she has already had pups. Like all greyhounds, she has a very loving nature.

....... and this is why she is lucky, and what makes it all worth while! Two emails received from Lucky's 'finders' .......

Katy

Just to let you know the latest – we contacted sosgalgos.com as you suggested and received a telephone call from a lady called Anna who lives in Barcelona .  She was extremely helpful and said they find homes in her area for greyhounds. She offered to arrange transport to collect ‘Lucky’ and take her to Barcelona but in a crate.  We didn’t want her put to any more stress than necessary so, to cut a long story short – my husband has, today, driven up to Barcelona with ‘Lucky’ where there is a foster home for her.  They then assess the dog and have homes waiting.  We cannot speak highly enough of the help and caring attitude we have received from Anna.  We would like to thank you also, once again, for your assistance.  It’s so nice to know that one ill-treated dog has the chance of a much happier future – the people who adopt her will also have a very loving family pet.

Kind regards

Sue & Keith Whibley

Janet,

Thank you for your lovely email.

Yesterday was very emotional having to say goodbye to Lucky, I find it is amazing how quickly we build a bond in such a short space of time.

We would welcome the publication as it enforces the good work you are all doing to stop this cruelty.

Thank you once again for all your help and wish you all well in the future.

Kind regards,

Keith & Sue Whibley.

MESSAGE FROM COOKIE RECEIVED ON 12TH FEBRUARY 2008

Hi

Just wanted to say to you all at PEPA (especially Christine) thanks for looking after me until my new parents came along.  They started off with my adopted name Osito but then found I still answered to Cookie so have swapped me back to it.

Well I've really fell on my feet here! I have lots of area outside to run about in and they take me for a long walk in the morning and sometimes I get another at night, they have a funny thing outside about 8X4 full of water, not sure what they use it for, but it serves me for a drink when I'm thirsty. I ate some tea towels today and daddy was very cross and made me go to my bed, delaying my morning walk! then mummy tried to explain they were hers and I mustn't chew them, they're learning now that anything they don't want ruined to put away.

I have my own bed because I'm not allowed on the sofas but when they go bed at night, I creep on and have a nice stretch out, whoops daddy caught me this morning, and then took a photo as evidence!! I'll have to get cleverer in the future and jump off before he gets up.....

I'm going to training once a week, I'll do anything for Les my trainer, as he knows what he's doing. Mum and dad are still learning, but it’s great as it means I get extra treats.

Anyway thanks again PEPA

Love from 'Cookie'

UPDATE ON SAMMY (AKA PETER PAN) - Feb 2008

Sammy has really fallen on his feet!! Not only has he got a new Mum and Dad, he's got two new mates, Carla and Emily, and as you can see from the photos below they all get on really well. His Mum reckons Sammy's been a lot better since his new friend Carla has joined the family - they play together all the time (apart from the odd snooze) and don't get at all bored at all when left on their own. Another Happy Ending.
